This is an initial visit to complete a comprehensive psychiatric assessment and to decide whether we are a good fit. At the end of the evaluation, we will discuss treatment recommendations and options. A treatment plan can include medication prescription, psychotherapy, recommending further testing, referral to other services as indicated.
During those appointments, we will be meeting regularly for medication management. We will review how the medication is working and whether we need to make any changes. We will also utilize non-pharmacological psychotherapeutic interventions, as indicated, to help achieve treatment goals.
Tele-Psychiatry is no longer a service delivery model used solely to reach underserved communities. It offers an alternative to patients& families experiencing other barriers to care, such as work demands and school activities. Video-based appointments are available to all residents of Texas.
Psychotherapy can be a very effective therapeutic tool with or without medication treatment. Brief supportive Psychotherapy is often integrated within medication management follow up visits. Extended Psychotherapy sessions are offered on a case by case basis.
